What is Mummy MOT?
Our Mummy MOT service is a women’s health physiotherapy assessment for new mums. The service includes assessment of posture, breathing, abdominal muscles, and pelvic floor, as well as the provision of recommendations for further postnatal recovery services, and postnatal exercise.
- Addresses specific musculoskeletal issues such as back pain and pelvic pain
- Addressing symptoms relating to bladder function, pelvic floor dysfunction, or abdominal tummy muscle separation (DRAM)
- Advice and recommendations relating to carrying out safe postnatal exercise, as well as guidelines for returning to more intense exercise and sports.
Who is Mummy MOT For?
Mummy MOT is available for new mums from 6 weeks postnatal onwards. Both vaginal delivery and C-sections are welcome. Our postnatal physiotherapy service is here to support all mums, regardless of the conditions of your labour and delivery, to help your body recover.
How Can Mummy MOT Help?
A Mummy MOT addresses a variety of issues that may have developed during pregnancy, labour, or delivery. Pregnancy can be fairly traumatic on the body, and it’s only natural that you’re left with a few scars.
This could include specific musculoskeletal issues such as back or pelvic pain, or other pregnancy-related symptoms such as reduced bladder function, pelvic floor dysfunction, or abdominal tummy muscle separation (DRAM).
Our specialist women’s health Physiotherapists will work with you to help you reach your goals, and address any concerns that may arise during your initial assessment. We’re here to support you through postpartum recovery.
What to Expect From Mummy MOT
Your first Mummy MOT appointment will include an initial assessment which will help us to understand your medical and pregnancy history, as well as your current conditions and concerns. You’ll also be offered a tummy check and pelvic health check as part of your initial assessment.
We’ll also discuss your goals with you to help us create a tailored care plan for you, which you’ll receive as a written report after your assessment.
