Movement MOT Sheffield
Understand how your body is moving today – so you can keep doing what you love for years to come.
You don’t need to be injured to benefit from seeing a physiotherapist.
Perhaps you once had an injury and never want it to come back again! Or perhaps your noticing aches or niggles, that come and go. Maybe you have a hobby you want to be able to do for many years to come, or perhaps you simply want reassurance that you’re doing the right things to look after your body.
The KB Movement MOT is a comprehensive, one-to-one movement assessment at our Sheffield clinic. During your 60-minute appointment, we’ll look closely at your mobility, strength, balance and control – helping you understand what your body is doing well and where it may need more attention.
Could your body benefit from a closer look?
The Movement MOT could be right for you if:
- Some exercises seem to be getting harder rather than easier
- You feel stiff, restricted or less confident in certain movements
- The same aches or niggles keep returning
- You want to understand exactly what your body should be working on
- You’d value a one-to-one assessment rather than relying on general exercises
- You want to improve your strength, mobility, balance or control
- You’re returning to exercise and want to know where to begin
- You want to stay fit, active and independent for many years to come
- You have suffered with an injury or issue before and really don’t want it to come back
- You’d like to identify potential issues before they become bigger limitations
You might already attend Pilates, go to the gym, walk regularly or play sport. The Movement MOT isn’t about finding faults – it’s about giving you clarity.
Don’t guess what your body needs. Find out.
What is a Movement MOT?
We take our cars for an MOT to check everything is working as it should. Yet most of us only have our bodies assessed once something starts to hurt (which in most cases is the wrong time, and takes much longer to get it right again!)
Your Movement MOT is a dedicated 60-minute appointment with a Physiotherapist and movement specialist at KB Physiotherapy & Wellness.
We’ll assess how your body moves as a whole, rather than focusing on one isolated area. Your appointment will be adapted to you, your current ability and the activities you want to continue enjoying.
This isn’t a fitness test that you can pass or fail. It’s a personalised health check designed to help you understand your body better and make informed decisions about how to look after it.
What will we assess?
Mobility
How freely your joints and muscles allow you to move, and whether stiffness or restriction is affecting particular movements.
Strength
Whether you have the strength you need for everyday life, exercise and the activities that matter to you.
Balance
How confidently and steadily you can control your body in different positions.
Movement control
How different areas of your body work together and whether you compensate, favour one side or avoid certain movements.
Your individual goals
Whether you want to improve an exercise, feel steadier, return to an activity or remain fit and independent, we’ll assess your movement in the context of your life.
What happens during your Movement MOT?
We start with you
We’ll discuss how you currently feel, the activities you enjoy, anything you’ve noticed changing and what you want your body to continue allowing you to do.
We assess how you move
Your clinician will guide you through a carefully selected series of movements to assess your mobility, strength, balance and control.
Everything is adapted to your current level. You don’t need to be particularly fit or flexible.
You receive your Movement Scorecard
Your findings will be explained using your personal Red, Amber and Green Movement Scorecard, giving you a clear picture of:
- What is working well
- What would benefit from attention
- What should be prioritised
- What you can begin working on
We provide your written recommendations
You’ll leave with clear, written and personalised recommendations based on your body and your goals.
That might include exercises to work on independently, adjustments to your training, or support from another KB service where appropriate. There is no one-size-fits-all pathway and no pressure to book unnecessary treatment.
Your Movement MOT includes:
- A comprehensive 60-minute, one-to-one movement assessment
- Assessment of your mobility, strength, balance and control
- Your personal Red, Amber and Green Movement Scorecard
- Identification of restrictions, weaknesses or movement differences
- A clear explanation of your results
- Greater confidence in how to look after your body
Why have a Movement MOT when nothing hurts?
Pain isn’t the only sign that your body could benefit from attention.
Changes can show up as:
- An exercise becoming more difficult
- Losing confidence in your balance
- Feeling stiffer after sitting or sleeping
- Avoiding certain positions
- Relying more heavily on one side
- Finding it harder to get down to or up from the floor
- Feeling less strong during everyday activities
- Noticing aches and niggles
A Movement MOT gives you dedicated time to explore these changes and decide what, if anything, would be useful to address.
You don’t have to wait for a problem before investing in how you move.
Who is the Movement MOT for?
It is particularly valuable for people who:
- Want to remain active as they get older
- Attend Pilates but would benefit from individual guidance
- Exercise regularly and want to train more effectively
- Have noticed changes in their mobility, strength or balance
- Have recurring niggles but no current significant injury
- Are returning to activity following a break or an injury
- Want a baseline against which future progress can be measured
- Value prevention and proactive healthcare
Not sure if a Movement MOT is right for you? If you currently have significant pain or a new injury, a physiotherapy assessment may be more appropriate, as this will include treatment. Our team can help you choose the right appointment.
