With the festivities of Christmas now over, and most likely a few extra pounds gained, it’s time for a lot of us to start considering our resolutions and goals for 2020. If this is you, then we would love to suggest that you consider including at least one Pilates class each week in this upcoming year. Not only is Pilates amazing in and off itself for your physical and mental wellbeing, but it will also play a supporting role to all your other goals in 2020.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a mind-body exercise technique that emphasises the importance of beginning movement from a central core of stability. The overall aims of pilates are to develop the deep, postural ‘core’ muscles that support the spine throughout movement, enhance normal movement patterns and improve overall body alignment.

Physical benefits of pilates:
  • Improved posture
  • Improved balance
  • Reduced injury risk
  • Increased strength
  • Enhanced core stability
  • Improved flexibility
  • Greater stamina & endurance
Psychological benefits of pilates:
  • Increased relaxation
  • Reduced stress & anxiety
  • Improved mental focus & concentration
