What is holistic therapy?

Holistic treatment is a combined approach of art and science that addresses the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. The practice of holistic health and wellness treatments integrates conventional and alternative therapies to prevent and treat disease, and most importantly, to promote optimal health. At Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness we believe that looking at the person is an essential part of treatment.

Many clients have busy, stressful lives, and we wanted to create a space for people to step into and gain the benefits holistic health treatments can offer.

Our highly experienced and qualified therapists offer a range of holistic treatments.

What are the different types of holistic treatments we offer?

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a massage therapy that works specifically on the area surrounding the head, scalp, face and neck, extending to the shoulders and upper part of the back. It has been practiced in Eastern countries for centuries.

The therapist uses gentle massage techniques to relax the muscles and tissues around the head, face, neck and shoulders. The benefits of this massage include relief from headaches, stress, anxiety and tension. It also promotes a sense of wellbeing and total relaxation.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage is an ancient form of healing, used for thousands of years to offer relief from pain, to restore good spirits, provide comfort, boost energy and to rejuvenate muscles. Massage actually speeds up the natural healing processes of the body, calms the mind, and settles the emotions. By reaching the emotions as well as the body, it evokes changes in the whole person. It is the perfect antidote to stress and helps the body’s natural healing process.

The pressure of the massage can be adapted to suit your needs, but you will leave with a feeling of complete relaxation.

Reflexology

Dating back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, Reflexology is a complementary therapy working on the feet to help heal the whole person and not simply the prevailing symptoms.

With our feet believed to be maps of our entire bodies, they contain thousands of tiny nerve endings called reflexes which correspond to each and every function and structure of the body. Simply by applying pressure to these reflex points a stimulation to the nerve system occurs, and amazing results can be obtained.

This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. It improves circulation and detoxifies the body, whilst also stimulating the production of endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers.

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions including:

  • Back Pain
  • Migraine
  • Arthritis
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Infertility
  • Hormonal Imbalances
  • Digestive disorders
  • Stress related conditions
  • Sports injury

Zone Face Lift

Zone Face Lift is all about ageing well. Inspired by creator Ziggie Bergman’s time studying with Native American shaman and healers in New Mexico, this magical treatment combines ancient and modern techniques such as Bergman Method Facial Reflexology, Japanese Facelift Massage, GuaSha, Quartz Crystals and Facial Cupping along with Native American healing herbs.

Zone Face Lift naturally stimulates collagen and elastin from the inside, tightens, plumps, sculpts the neck line, smooths and lifts the face, leaving a glowing complexion after just one treatment. In addition this programme helps to release emotions held in the face leaving you looking softer, happier and calm.
