Physiotherapy Testimonials & Success Stories

I originally came to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness with a trapped nerve in my neck, torn tendons in a shoulder, almost constant pain. I had previously had to have cortisone injections for the relief too. After the 1st appointment I haven’t taken pain relief and have been doing the exercise program. I have occasional nerve pain, but adding Pilates in has really made a difference on that too. Not being in pain has given me my life back. My range of movement and my confidence has improved so much. I now feel really good, and friends who I don’t see often have commented unprompted on the difference in me.

I came to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness with a problem with my knees which was affecting my back and making me struggle with walking. The experience has been wonderful. I have gained more flexibility and better range of movement in my legs. I can go for hikes with the family and stand most of the day working with no issues. I feel a lot more happier with my range of movement and having less pain.

I came to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness with left hip pain that had been there for a long time and was now inhibiting my life and stopping me walking and enjoying life. The experience has been brilliant. Great communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent treatment, motivation and homework. Two post operative home visits kick started my recovery. The best result I have had is…..hip….what hip?! I am so glad I had the surgery and the consultant is amazed by the speed of my recovery. Extra physio with Katie was the major factor.

I have had 2 weeks between my latest sessions with Guy, my last session being today. Out of those 16 days between treatments I have only taken painkillers on 3 of those days. That’s 13 days without painkillers… for the first time in 14 years! On those 3 days, I took nowhere near the amount of painkillers I usually do. I have significantly reduced my preventative medication to flush all the chemicals from my body. I feel so much better in myself and feel less foggy-headed without all the medication. Additionally, nausea has also subsided. I still experience pain for most of the day, but it is manageable without pumping medication into my body. The dizziness comes and goes but again it has improved. My sleep has improved from 2.5 hours each night to between 4.5 hours and 6 hours. The excruciating pain that wakes me up has reduced dramatically and no longer wakes me up. Some mornings the pain hasn’t been there at all and I have laid feeling very confused thinking somethings missing. I didn’t realise how tiring it was to constantly pretend that the pain was manageable and how much energy that used. My next appointment is in 4 weeks, and I am looking forward to seeing how the pain and my mobility progress over the month. I wanted to say thank you to you, Katie, and Guy for putting a spring in my step and making the pain more manageable to live with.

I suffered a prolapsed disc 10 years ago and 18 months ago. Working with my physio, I find that I am able to work at my own level in a friendly atmosphere. It is good fun, whilst working hard. I have increased flexibility and a greater awareness of how to improve my back. My posture is also much better. I always feel a lot more flexible after each session and less stiff.

I came to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness with a calf strain (severe!). The massage is massively helpful, personalised and has resolved my problem. The massage had brilliant immediate effects – feeling loser, more relaxed and after a few days my injury recovered greatly. The therapist provided good advice on stretching, running technique and self-management.

I have suffered with a bad back for a number of years and am having physiotherapy at present. I was recommended pilates by my Physio. I have really enjoyed finding out how inflexible and weak I am! Katie made the class enjoyable despite my short-comings. I now come weekly and little-by-little I am getting stronger and more flexible and it’s helping me manage my back pain a lot.

I came to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness to improve my movement and build my stamina in order to keep up with the demands of working in an outdoor educational setting. I have experienced many benefits from my Pilates with Emily. I used to have an aching back after spending hours on my feet but that has disappeared altogether. I am now enjoying jogging and interval training with Emily and find that I have much more energy. Thank you!

I was recommended to Katie Bell Physiotherapy & Wellness by a friend who does weekly Pilates and I worked on a 1:1 basis originally as I was suffering with fatigue and general unfitness following chemotherapy. The experience has been enjoyable and challenging, with Katie pushing me each week to each achieve more. I feel so much better after every session. My energy levels have increased, I am fitter and more confident.

Been to see Katie a few times over the years and she has always sorted me out, but this last problem with my back had been something else. I had been having back pain for over 18 months – a feeling of sitting on a hard lump and pain down my left leg. Katie soon diagnosed the problem and after a few sessions of physio it definitely improved.

The problem seemed to ease off but we both knew this was due to wear and tear and old age and would be a condition that would be ongoing and needed controlling. That is when I decided something had to give and Katie recommended trying Pilates. I was rather nervous as I had the injury and had not done any physical exercise for years. I booked to do one to one sessions with Katie and can honestly say it was on of the best things I had ever done.

Being one to one, Katie was there beside me guiding me along so I did not hurt myself, encouraging me all the way as I was very nervous and giving me confidence to get in positions and try moves I never could have imagined!

The best result I have gained from this is the ability to move around much more freely. Prior to this I struggled to get up and down, my knees wouldn’t bend at all and body was as stiff as a board. When my back does start up, instead of reaching for the pain killers I now get down on my mat and do the exercises Katie taught me – they work every time.

I now feel much more energetic, I am moving around much more fluently and she has given me the confidence to try more vigorous exercise. Oh and I have lost a few inches here and there.

I do feel I owe a lot to Katie and can imagine being one of her clients for a long time to come.
