At Katie Bell Physiotherapy and Wellness we’re passionate about women’s health and so, back by popular demand, we’re hosting a second ‘Menopause and Me’ evening.
Our Women’s Health Specialist, Emily Elgar explains more:
‘Earlier in the year we started the ‘Menopause and Me’ conversation. We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response and want to keep the conversation going!
At this significant stage of life it’s easy to become overwhelmed, depleted or down right confused. There’s so much advice out there but the topic doesn’t get the mainstream focus it deserves – which often leaves women feeling unsure, embarrassed and frustrated. My aim is to simplify and equip you with the basics; all you need to nourish yourself. And by definition that’s providing you with the food (advice!) and other techniques necessary for growth, health, and good condition.
I’ll take you through what it means to truly nourish you through the menopause.
- Watch what you eat. Out Nutritionist Marika will provide nutritional guidance to optimise wellbeing through diet. This doesn’t mean restricting some foods or drink, just be mindful of what affects you. Different women have different triggers for symptoms such as hot flashes. You could keep a diary which will help you pin point your triggers.
- Paula, our Yoga Practitioner, will introduce combining mindfulness and yoga practices for nourishing the body and mind encouraging you to stress less! This is a tough one, but being mindful of what makes you feel stressed and trying to keep those stresses to a minimum will help your mood and sleep.
- We’re going to be looking at how the menopause impacts the balance and health of your pelvic organs. Exercise more. I would say this (!) but exercising will boost your mood, aid sleep and keep your body in the best condition it can be.
